Basketball Recap: Hammond Central Picks Up Eighth Consecutive Win

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Hammond Central walked away with it. They walked away with a 45-34 victory over the Crown Point Bulldogs on Tuesday. The win was familiar territory for the Wolves, who have now won eight contests in a row.

Hammond Central's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ciyah Thomas led the charge by going 9-for-16 to rack up 19 points along with eight boards and six steals. Thomas is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Indiah Hutchinson, who went 5-for-11 en route to 14 points and six rebounds.

Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ivy Henderson, who went 6-for-9 on her way to 14 points and six boards. Ava Richie was another key player, going 6-for-14 to rack up 16 points and five rebounds.

Hammond Central's victory bumped their record up to 18-3. As for Crown Point, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which has put a noticeable dent in their 12-12 record this season.

Hammond Central has already played their next game, a 67-51 win against Hammond Morton on the 7th. Crown Point does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
