Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Bountiful

Bountiful extended their winning streak to three on Tuesday, bumping them up to 5-6. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Brighton Bengals a 1-0 shutout. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 9-7 on Monday.

Bountiful got a great performance from Corey Erickson as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over six innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Bountiful's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Josh Haslem, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base. Haslem is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

As for Brighton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-6. The defeat was just more heartbreak for they who fell 9-7 when the teams previously met back in March of 2022.

On Brighton's side, Mac Gunn spent all 7.2 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, Jonathon Ellis was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases. Those stolen bases were his first of the season.

Bountiful will have a chance to go back-to-back against Brighton: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
