Basketball Game Preview: Morristown-Hamblen West Trojans vs. Sevier County Smoky Bears

Morristown-Hamblen West hasn't had much luck against Sevier County recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Morristown-Hamblen West Trojans will be playing in front of their home fans against the Sevier County Smoky Bears at 7:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Morristown-Hamblen West is headed into Thursday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Tuesday. They took a 68-51 bruising from Science Hill. While losing is never fun, the Trojans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 205th, while the Hilltoppers are ranked 43rd).

Sevier County has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 53-51 heartbreaker at the hands of Jefferson County.

Sevier County's defeat dropped their record down to 12-5. As for Morristown-Hamblen West, their loss dropped their record down to 4-9.

Morristown-Hamblen West ended up a good deal behind Sevier County in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, losing 56-41. Can Morristown-Hamblen West avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
