Baseball Game Preview: Jenks Trojans vs. Ponca City Wildcats

For the second straight game, Jenks will face off against Ponca City. The Trojans will host the Wildcats at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The last three games Jenks has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

On Monday, Jenks needed a bit of extra time to put away Ponca City. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 win over the Wildcats. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Trojans as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.

For Ponca City's part, Kalon Covey was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. The Wildcats are 4-1 when Covey posts two or more runs, but 4-16 otherwise. Blake Orozco also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

The win got Jenks back to even at 13-13. As for Ponca City, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-17 record this season.
