Football Recap: Capital Comes Up Short on the Road Against Russell + How To Watch

Capital had to start their season on the road on Friday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They lost to the Russell Rustlers on the road by a 28-14 margin. The Bruins were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Rustlers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2021.

Caleb Taylor had an outrageously good game for Russell as he threw for 296 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 11.4 yards per attempt, and also punched in one score on the ground. That's the most passing yards Taylor has posted since back in August of 2024. Blake Herda was Taylor's top target, picking up 71 receiving yards and two TDs.

Looking ahead, Capital will challenge Belgrade at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Russell, they will take on Sentinel at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
