Recap: West Orange Warriors vs. Olympia Titans
The West Orange Warriors posted their biggest victory yet this season on Monday. They blew past Olympia 54-31. Given West Orange's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 103rd, while Olympia is ranked 365th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Among those leading the charge was Zulmalyz Sanchez, who scored 17 points along with eight rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jadid Polanco, who scored eight points along with four steals.
Despite the defeat, Olympia saw an underclassman step up: Ava Pazos scored nine points along with five rebounds and three steals. Pazos has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last nine times she's played.
Olympia struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as West Orange pulled down 12 offensive rebounds.
The victory makes it two in a row for West Orange and bumps their season record up to 9-7. As for Olympia, their loss dropped their record down to 5-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. West Orange will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Eustis at 7:30 p.m. on January 18th. Olympia won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Lake Brantley at 7:30 p.m. on January 16th. Lake Brantley is out to stop a five-game streak of losses at home.
