Basketball Recap: Westran Piles Up the Points Against Marceline

Westran had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.6 points) and they went ahead and made it six on Thursday. They blew past the Marceline Tigers 72-35. The Hornets have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 21 points or more this season.

Westran got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Marshall Kitchen out in front who went 7-for-12 on his way to 14 points and eight boards. The dominant performance also gave Kitchen a new career-high in assists (four). Another player making a difference was Jordan Black, who went 6-for-10 to rack up 13 points and six steals.

Westran smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 12 consecutive matches.

Westran's victory bumped their record up to 18-4. As for Marceline, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-5.

Westran didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 53-33 win against Paris/Faith Walk Academy on the 11th. As for Marceline, they have also already played their next game, a 71-29 loss against Maysville on the 7th.
