Softball Recap: Belmont Starts off Right with Win over Stivers School for the Arts

Belmont gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Stivers School for the Arts Tigers as they made off with a 13-6 win. This was payback for the Bison, who suffered a 21-0 loss the last time these two teams met.

Nevaeh Johnson was excellent, scoring three runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Courtney Jernigan, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Stivers School for the Arts' defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Belmont will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Tigers: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
