Softball Recap: Lawrenceville Triumphs

Lawrenceville's game on Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Red Hill Salukis a 5-0 shutout. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Indians also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2024.

Allison Evans made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April.

Evans wasn't the only one making solid contact as eight players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Brina Opat, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run. Alixzandriah Garza was another, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Lawrenceville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Lawrenceville's win bumped their record up to 8-16. As for Red Hill, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 10-12.

Coming up, Lawrenceville will be taking part in a tournament against Farina South Central at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Cougars' pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so the Indians' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Red Hill does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
