Basketball Game Preview: Prairie Hawks vs. Washington Warriors

The Prairie Hawks will take on the Washington Warriors at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Prairie's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last eight games.

Prairie is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Iowa's top teams: Linn-Mar, who was ranked fourth at the time (Prairie was ranked 12th). Prairie took a 69-57 hit to the loss column at the hands of Linn-Mar on Friday. The matchup was a 33-33 toss-up at halftime, but the Hawks couldn't quite close it out.

Meanwhile, Washington was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their tenth straight loss. They took a blow against Kennedy, falling 83-38.

Prairie's defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.2 points over those games. As for Washington, their loss dropped their record down to 9-15.

Everything came up roses for Prairie against Washington in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, as the team secured a 78-45 win. Does Prairie have another victory up their sleeve, or will Washington turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
