Basketball Game Preview: Golden Valley Cougars vs. Merced Bears

The Golden Valley Cougars will face off against the Merced Bears at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Golden Valley sitting on five straight victories and Merced on four.

On Wednesday, Golden Valley needed a bit of extra time to put away El Capitan. They came out on top against the Gauchos by a score of 66-58.

Atwater typically has all the answers at home, but on Wednesday Merced proved too difficult a challenge. They walked away with a 58-51 win over the Falcons.

Merced pushed their record up to 18-9 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.3 points over those games. As for Golden Valley, their win bumped their record up to 21-6.

Golden Valley skirted past Merced 49-46 when the teams last played two weeks ago. Does Golden Valley have another victory up their sleeve, or will Merced turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
