Basketball Game Preview: Randolph Cardinals vs. Cardinal O'Hara Hawks

The Randolph Cardinals will face off against the Cardinal O'Hara Hawks at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Randolph is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.5 points per game this season.

Randolph is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Frewsburg just ended the team's seven-game winning streak on Monday. They fell just short of the Bears by a score of 49-47.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Skylar Herington, who posted 19 points and six steals. That was a full 40.4% of Randolph's points, marking the eighth time in a row she's put up more than a third of the team's points. Quinn Pence was another key player, going 5 of 10 en route to 13 points and four steals.

Meanwhile, Cardinal O'Hara waltzed into their match on Thursday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They enjoyed a cozy 53-38 victory over the Sharks. Given the Hawks' advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 29th, while the Sharks are ranked 228th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Cardinal O'Hara's win bumped their record up to 14-7. As for Randolph, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 7-1 and their overall record down to 10-5.

Randolph suffered a grim 59-39 defeat to Cardinal O'Hara in their previous meeting back in December of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Cardinal O'Hara's Kyla Hayes, who dropped a double-double on 33 points and 15 boards. Now that Randolph knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
