Basketball Recap: Miller Now 6-2 over Last Eight Games

On Friday, the Miller Cardinals rang in the new year with a 68-61 win over the St. Elizabeth Hornets.

When it comes to explaining why St. Elizabeth lost, don't look at Gavin Williams. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 25 points and 12 boards. Williams is becoming a predictor of St. Elizabeth's success: when he posts at least eight boards the team is undefeated (and 3-5 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Eli Kemna, who posted nine points.

Miller is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. As for St. Elizabeth, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-5 record this season.

Miller wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 102-42 victory against Wheaton on the 6th. As for St. Elizabeth, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Blair Oaks at 6:00 p.m. on January 14th.
