Baseball Recap: Kenner Discovery Health Sciences Academy Gets the Win

Kenner Discovery Health Sciences Academy took a eight-run defeat the last time they faced off against Newman, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Kenner Discovery Health Sciences Academy Swamp Owls never let the Newman Greenies get on the board and left with a 2-0 victory on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Swamp Owls have posted since February 17th.

The result came thanks to Blake Schexnider's shutout, as he gave up just seven hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Kenner Discovery Health Sciences Academy is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-5 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Kenner Discovery Health Sciences Academy saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Camden Miller, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one double. That's the most hits Miller has posted since back in April of 2024. Conor Donato also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Kenner Discovery Health Sciences Academy now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Newman, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 5-6.

Coming up, Kenner Discovery Health Sciences Academy will square off against Thomas Jefferson at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Newman, they will be playing at home against Chalmette at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
