Wesleyan Christian Academy and Charlotte Christian are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2016, but likely not for long. Wesleyan Christian Academy will host Charlotte Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Wesleyan Christian Academy gave up the first runs on Monday, but they didn't let that get them down. They put the hurt on Bethany Community with a sharp 13-7 victory. The win was nothing new for the Trojans as they're now sitting on three straight.
Juliana Abantohollans and Allison Cheek did most of the damage at the plate: Abantohollans scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4, while Cheek went 2-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. Abantohollans also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Ella Joyce was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.
They weren't the only ones working in the hit department: Wesleyan Christian Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, Charlotte Christian never let their opponents score two weeks ago. Everything went their way against Lee Park Prep as Charlotte Christian made off with a 12-0 victory.
Mogan Banks made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over five innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and four RBI.
In other batting news, Stella Spang was incredible, scoring three runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Eva Nieto, who scored a run while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
Wesleyan Christian Academy's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 3-4. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing 11 hits in those games compared to only four in the others. As for Charlotte Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 4-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Wesleyan Christian Academy has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Charlotte Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 11.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
