Football Recap: Washington County Falls Despite Big Games from Tiasia Graham and Jade Kitchens

Washington County and Columbus squared off in some playoff action on Monday, but Washington County had to settle for second. They took a 27-18 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Columbus Blue Devils. If the Golden Hawks were looking for revenge after losing 19-0 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Washington County's loss came despite strong showings from Jade Kitchens and Tiasia Graham. Kitchens rushed for 62 yards and one touchdown on only six carries, while Graham gained 108 total yards and two touchdowns.

A big part of Columbus' win came down to the chemistry between Serenity Hickman and her top target Harmony Franklin. Hickman threw for 186 yards and three touchdowns while completing 77.3% of her passes while Franklin gained 124 total yards and three touchdowns. Hickman also deserves a shoutout for her performance on D, making 13 total tackles and defending one pass.

With the loss, Washington County broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 13-4. As for Columbus, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 21-6 record this season.

Washington County does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Columbus has also already played their next contest, a 19-6 victory against Long County on the 12th.
