On the hitting side, Citrus Valley saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cole West, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases. Carter hit Bloomington with a four-run seventh inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Bruins fell 7-4 to the Lions.
Nathan Martin was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Velazquez, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one double.
Citrus Valley pushed their record up to 13-10 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Bloomington, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last ten contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-13 record this season.
