Baseball Game Preview: Academic Magnet Raptors vs. St. John's Islanders

The Academic Magnet Raptors are taking a road trip to face off against the St. John's Islanders at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Academic Magnet is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.

On Tuesday, Academic Magnet didn't have quite enough to beat Philip Simmons and fell 5-4. The Raptors haven't had much luck with the Iron Horses recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Academic Magnet saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Liam Rust, who went 2-for-3 with two runs. The Raptors are 4-1 when Rust posts two or more runs, but 6-8 otherwise.

St. John's played against Bethune-Bowman on Thursday and won via forfeit.

Academic Magnet's loss dropped their record down to 10-9. As for St. John's, their win bumped their record up to 13-10.

Academic Magnet got the 'W' when the teams last played on Wednesday against St. John's by a conclusive 12-3 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Raptors since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
