Villa Rica hadn't done well against Alexander recently (they were 0-5 in their previous five matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Wildcats had just enough and edged out the Cougars 6-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Wildcats have posted since August 22, 2024.

Helaina Magistro spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Sophia Plagemann and Parker Harrison did most of the damage at the plate: Plagemann went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and three RBI, while Harrison went 1-for-3 with one home run and three runs. Another player making a difference was Skylar Dills, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

The win made it two in a row for Villa Rica and bumps their season record up to 7-3. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 5 runs in those games. As for Alexander, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 6-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Villa Rica will host Rome at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Alexander, they will welcome Bremen at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
