Basketball Recap: Malia Dixon's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Leflore County over Amanda Elzy

Leflore County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 46-35 to the Amanda Elzy Panthers. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 34-14 back in November.

Leflore County's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Malia Dixon, who posted 12 points. That was a full 34.3% of Leflore County's points, marking the third time in a row she's had more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Antionette Holston, who earned nine points.

Leflore County's loss dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Amanda Elzy, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-8 record this season.

Leflore County will host Winona at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Amanda Elzy will take on O'Bannon in a holiday battle at at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
