Cedar Bluffs is headed into Friday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight games on Friday. They took a blow against Elmwood-Murdock, falling 66-18. Despite the loss, Cedar Bluffs had strong showings from Trayven Kluthe, who rushed for 105 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and Izzak Varejcka, who rushed for 101 yards and one score. Varejcka has become a key player for the Wildcats: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least 80 rushing yards, but 0-4 otherwise.
Meanwhile, Sacred Heart played a tough game on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by Freeman and fell 65-26. The Irish were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 51-18.
Even if they lost, Sacred Heart's defensive line still kept up the pressure with four sacks. Toby Baxter was especially locked on to Freeman's QB and sacked him twice. Baxter has been hot recently, having posted at least one sack the last three times he's played.
Sacred Heart's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Cedar Bluffs, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5.
Friday's matchup might be decided in the trenches. Cedar Bluffs has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 241.4 rushing yards per game.
