Baseball Recap: Holy Trinity Snags Seventh Victory in Last Eight Games

Holy Trinity barely beat Westmont the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Tigers never let the Sentinels get on the board and left with an 8-0 win on Wednesday. Considering the Tigers have won 14 contests by more than seven runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Matt Diaz made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over 6.2 innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with three runs and one double. That double marked the first that he has hit this season.

In other batting news, Aiden Figueroa was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in hits (two). Another player making a difference was Elijah Mota, who got on base in two of his five plate appearances with two RBI.

Holy Trinity has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-9 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.4 runs over those games. As for Westmont, their loss ended a 14-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 23-11-1.

Holy Trinity does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Westmont, they will square off against Rickover Naval at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Sentinels are facing the Seadragons at the right time seeing as the Seadragons are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
