Volleyball Recap: Summit Shasta Now 12-3 over Last 15 Games

There's no place like home for Summit Shasta, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They came out on top against The Nueva School Mavericks by a score of 3-1 on Tuesday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-1 back in September.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-17, 21-25, 25-18, 25-20.

Summit Shasta got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Maile Moffat out in front who had 20 digs. That's the most digs Moffat has posted over her last five matches. Another player making a difference was Ysabelle Galvez, who had 16 assists and eight digs.

Summit Shasta was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 13 aces. They served three more aces than The Nueva School's also-impressive total of ten.

Despite the loss, The Nueva School saw an underclassman step up: freshman Julia Cai had 14 kills, four aces, and one block. Cai has been hot recently, having posted seven or more kills the last three times she's played. Vivian Ma was another key player, getting four digs and three aces.

Summit Shasta has been performing well recently as they've won 12 of their last 15 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-8 record this season. As for The Nueva School, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four matches and leaves them with a 8-8 record.

Summit Shasta didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against Pacific Bay Christian on the 16th. As for The Nueva School, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 3-0 victory against Design Tech on the 16th.
