Softball Game Preview: Mineral Ridge Rams vs. Grand Valley Mustangs

The Mineral Ridge Rams will be taking part in a tournament against the Grand Valley Mustangs at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Mineral Ridge is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.9 runs per game this season.

While Mineral Ridge's win against Jackson-Milton wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Rams had just enough and edged out the Bluejays 10-8. The high-scoring effort was just what the Rams needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.

The team relied heavily on Sullivan Sandy, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played. Laney Rigley was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI and one run.

Meanwhile, Grand Valley fell victim to Mathews and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They lost 11-0 to Mathews. Grand Valley hasn't had much luck with Mathews recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Grand Valley now has a losing record of 8-9. As for Mineral Ridge, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-6-1 record this season.
