Basketball Recap: St. David Comes Up Short

St. David was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 42-35 to the Pueblo Warriors.

Leading Pueblo to victory were Anthony Carranza and Marcos Lopez. Carranza went 7 of 10 en route to 16 points and four steals, while Lopez dropped a double-double on 11 points and 13 boards. Carranza is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed three or more in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Silverio Rivera, who posted seven points.

St. David's loss dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Pueblo, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-12.

St. David will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Safford at 7:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025. Pueblo will also get a bit of a break before their next game: they'll face off against Marana at 7:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025. Marana knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven matches -- so hopefully Pueblo likes a good challenge.
