The Central Christian Comets are taking a road trip to square off against the Calvert Senecas at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. Central Christian is coming into the contest hot, having won their last seven games.
Central Christian is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 victory over Medina Christian Academy. That's two games straight that the Comets have won by just one run.
Calvert never got on the board in their matchup on Monday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Maplewood on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 16-5 margin over the Rockets. The result was nothing new for the Senecas, who have now won 20 games by six runs or more so far this season.
Tucker Coleman made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.
In other pitching news, Cohen Stull looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had over his last four matchups.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Vincenzo Lyons, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and one triple. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Logan Ritzler was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
Calvert always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .656. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Maplewood only posted an OBP of .250.
Central Christian's record now sits at 15-10. As for Calvert, their record is now 26-2-2.
