Preview: Lewisburg Patriots vs. North Panola Cougars
The Lewisburg Patriots will play host again and welcome the North Panola Cougars, where tip off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Tuesday, Lewisburg narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Southaven 57-55.
Meanwhile, North Panola scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They enjoyed a cozy 89-72 win over Grenada. Given North Panola's advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 73rd, while Grenada is ranked 216th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Lewisburg's win bumped their record up to 7-4. As for North Panola, their victory was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-3.
Things could have been worse for Lewisburg, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 67-50 loss to North Panola in their previous meeting back in December of 2021. Thankfully for Lewisburg, Cedquavious Hunter (who scored 27 points) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
