Basketball Recap: Underwood Starts Season with Loss on the Road

Underwood had to start their season on the road on Monday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They received a blow as they fell 67-50 to the Shenandoah Mustangs. The defeat continues a trend for the Eagles in their meetings with the Mustangs: they've now lost three in a row.

Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ainsley Roberts, who shot 50% from the field to rack up 18 points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Remi Paulson, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and 11 boards.

The win was the 16th in a row (dating back to last season) for Shenandoah, bringing their record up to 2-0.

Underwood and Shenandoah will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Eagles are set to square off against their familiar foe AHSTW at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Shenandoah will face off against rival Harlan at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
