Recap: Calvert Cavaliers vs. Northern Patriots
The Calvert Cavaliers had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They had just enough and edged Northern out 19-17. For Calvert, this counts as revenge for the 35-28 loss Northern walked away with the last time they faced one another back in October of 2022.
Calvert can attribute much of their success to Domaine Wallace Jr., who rushed for 96 yards and a touchdown.
Northern's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Tyler Brown, who rushed for 93 yards and two touchdowns.
Calvert's victory bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Northern, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 5-3.
Calvert will face off against Patuxent at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Patuxent is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling. As for Northern, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Huntingtown at 7:00 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Maryland (Huntingtown is ranked 36th, while Northern is ranked 49th).
