Softball Recap: Memorial Comes Up Short

Memorial was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Cooper Cougars. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cougars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-4 back in March.

Olivia Vanderburg made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI. Ella Gollihugh was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Memorial's loss dropped their record down to 12-18. As for Cooper, their win bumped their record up to 14-11.

Coincidentally, Memorial and Cooper will both be playing Legacy the next time they take the field. The Mavericks will host the Leopards at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Cougars will head out to face them at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
