Preview: Hawkins Hawks vs. Port of Los Angeles Polar Bears

Hawkins and Port of Los Angeles are an even 4-4 against one another since February of 2016, but not for long. The Hawkins Hawks will head out on the road to face off against the Port of Los Angeles Polar Bears at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Port of Los Angeles took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Hawkins, who comes in off a win.

Even though Harbor Teacher scored an imposing 57 points on Friday, Hawkins still came out on top. Hawkins secured a 61-57 W over Harbor Teacher. The win made it back-to-back wins for Hawkins.

Hawkins can attribute much of their success to Kemaun Scott, who scored 15 points, and De'Meiko Crawford, who scored 23 points. Robert Stewart was another key contributor, scoring nine points.

Meanwhile, Port of Los Angeles' recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fifth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Locke, falling 96-56. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.

Hawkins has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-11 record this season. As for Port of Los Angeles, they bumped their record down to 4-11 with that loss, which was their seventh straight on the road.

Everything came up roses for Hawkins against Port of Los Angeles in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 as the squad secured a 80-49 win. With Hawkins ahead 45-23 at the half, the match was all but over already.
