Softball Recap: Academy of Notre Dame Extends Winning Streak to Six

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Academy of Notre Dame ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They skirted past the Mystic Valley Regional Eagles 2-1. Winning may never get old, but the Lancers sure are getting used to it with their sixth in a row.

Jacqui Martineau was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, one stolen base, and one double. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played.

Academy of Notre Dame's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-2. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games. As for Mystic Valley Regional, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 5-1.

Coincidentally, Academy of Notre Dame and Mystic Valley Regional will both be playing Minuteman Regional the next time they take the field. The Lancers will host the Minuteman at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, while the Eagles will head out to face them at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
