Volleyball Recap: Chugiak Beats Wasilla for Their Sixth Straight Win

Chugiak came tearing into Saturday's game with five straight wins , and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 2-0 win over the Wasilla Warriors. That looming 2-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Mustangs yet this season.

Chugiak easily took the second set, but they let things get interesting in the other. The match finished with set scores of 25-16, 25-15.

Their offense was headlined by Elise Kelley and Audrey Parks, who picked up six kills apiece. They got some help from Oliviya Rodriguez and her 17 assists. Parks was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Chugiak's victory bumped their record up to 11-1. As for Wasilla, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 2-3.

Chugiak wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 2-0 defeat against Eagle River on the 23rd. As for Wasilla, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on West Anchorage at 8:00 p.m. on September 5.
