Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hillsboro). They put the hurt on the Alvarado Indians with a sharp 22-4 victory on Tuesday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Eagles needed considering they were shut out in their previous match.
Izzy Hernandez was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She tossed five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while going 1-for-4.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Laci Forns, who went 4-for-5 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in RBI. Another player making a difference was Brynlie Vantreese, who scored three runs while going 3-for-4.
Hillsboro was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .471. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Alvarado only posted a batting average of .125.
Hillsboro pushed their record up to 9-5 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road.
