Recap: Alexander Cougars vs. Langston Hughes Panthers

The Alexander Cougars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They were beaten by Langston Hughes 68-31. Alexander has not had much luck with Langston Hughes recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.

Alexander struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.

Langston Hughes' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Karrell Greene led the charge by scoring 14 points along with five steals. Greene continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyla Greene, who scored 13 points along with seven steals and five assists.

Alexander has not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-8 record this season. As for Langston Hughes, the victory was the 12th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-2.

Alexander will head out on the road to square off against Kennesaw Mountain at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Kennesaw Mountain will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 460th, while Alexander is ranked 196th). Langston Hughes will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Webb at 5:00 p.m. on January 13th.
