Football Recap: Southport Takes a Loss

Southport fell victim to Terre Haute South Vigo and their airtight defense on Friday. They had to suffer through a 48-0 loss at the hands of the Braves. The defeat continues a trend for the Cardinals in their meetings with the Braves: they've now lost five in a row.

Maddox Woodcock was his usual excellent self, throwing for 133 yards and three TDs, while also rushing for 32 yards and one score for Terre Haute South Vigo. Those three passing touchdowns gave Woodcock a new career-high.

Southport's loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Terre Haute South Vigo, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-2.

Looking ahead, Southport will host Bloomington North at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Cardinals' defense better be ready for this one: the Cougars have averaged an impressive 25.9 points per game this season. As for Terre Haute South Vigo, they will head out to square off against Columbus North at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. That game will pit two of the most dominant signal callers against one another: Woodcock and Asher Ratliff.
