Softball Recap: Beaver Dam Picks Up Seventh Straight Win at Home

Beaver Dam waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came out on top against the Fort Atkinson Blackhawks by a score of 6-2. The Golden Beavers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Blackhawks, too.

Emma Julka spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on six hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kendall Fakes, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Joy Mielke, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Beaver Dam kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 12 hits in three consecutive contests.

Beaver Dam pushed their record up to 9-3 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.6 runs over those games. As for Fort Atkinson, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-6.

Beaver Dam didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 3-0 loss against Watertown on the 25th. As for Fort Atkinson, they have also already played their next matchup, a 10-0 defeat against Waunakee on the 25th.
