Tupelo won the last time they faced Starkville and things went their way on Saturday too. The Golden Wave walked away with a 6-1 victory over the Yellowjackets. The game was the first time the Golden Wave have beaten the Yellowjackets on their field since March 25, 2023.

Tanner Brannigan looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Brody Wilson was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three stolen bases, and three RBI. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Kadin Bennett was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run, one stolen base, and one double.

Tupelo lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Tupelo's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Starkville, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.

Coincidentally, Tupelo and Starkville will both be playing South Panola the next time they take the field. The Golden Wave will host the Tigers at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, while the Yellowjackets will play them later in the day, at 6:00 p.m.
