Basketball Game Preview: Camelback Spartans vs. South Mountain Jaguars

The Camelback Spartans will venture away from home to take on the South Mountain Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Camelback's offense hasn't had much luck over their past four contests, but Thursday's matchup will give them a chance to turn things around.

Last Tuesday, Camelback came up short against Browne and fell 38-25.

Camelback might have lost, but man, Deja Francisco was a machine: she dropped a double-double on 14 points and 13 rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Francisco a new career-high in steals (three).

Even though they lost, Camelback smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, after only 25 points in their last match, South Mountain made sure to put some points up on the board against Kofa on Tuesday. South Mountain was the clear victor by a 64-43 margin over Kofa. The Jaguars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 21 points or more this season.

South Mountain has also been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-10 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 47.5 points. As for Camelback, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-17.

Camelback was dealt a bruising 54-9 loss at the hands of South Mountain in their previous matchup two weeks ago. That match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Camelback was down 28-5.
