Preview: Morse Shipbuilders vs. Medomak Valley Panthers
Morse is 2-8 against Medomak Valley since December of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Morse Shipbuilders will head out on the road to take on the Medomak Valley Panthers at 6:00 p.m. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Tuesday, Morse didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Maine Central Institute, but they still walked away with a 54-48 victory. The win was just what Morse needed coming off of a 75-27 loss in their prior game.
Calin Gould was his usual excellent self, scoring 19 points along with six rebounds. Trace McFarland was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Meanwhile, Medomak Valley came tearing into Saturday's contest with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They claimed a resounding 92-31 win over Belfast at home. Medomak Valley's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Morse's win bumped their record up to 3-7. As for Medomak Valley, their win was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-1.
Morse was taken down by Medomak Valley 64-35 in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. Can Morse avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
