Softball Recap: Notre Dame Prep Extends Road Winning Streak to Five

Notre Dame Prep came out on top against Roland Park Country on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive 11-run sixth inning. Notre Dame Prep put the hurt on Roland Park Country with a sharp 19-1 win. Considering Notre Dame Prep has won nine contests by more than nine runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Abby Pitz and Lea Neff made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Pitz pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Meanwhile, Neff tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave Pitz a new career-high in strikeouts (five). At bat, Pitz went 4-for-5 with four runs, three RBI, and one triple, while Neff went 3-for-6 with three RBI and two runs. With that strong performance, Pitz is now averaging an impressive 2.1 runs per game.

In other batting news, Lucy Myers was incredible, going 5-for-6 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. Those five hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Rosie Galasso, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

Notre Dame Prep kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 22 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 15 hits in three consecutive matchups.

Notre Dame Prep's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-2. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Roland Park Country, their loss dropped their record down to 3-6.

Notre Dame Prep does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Roland Park Country, they will challenge St. John's Catholic Prep at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Reds are facing the Vikings at the right time seeing as the Vikings are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
