Softball Recap: Arleta Beats Vasquez for Their Fifth Straight Victory

Arleta entered their tilt with Vasquez on Saturday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They blew past Vasquez 9-2. With that victory, Arleta brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.

OLIVIA FIGUEROA spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on six hits.

At the plate, Arleta let LEILANI GURROLA and KARINA SANCHEZ run wild. GURROLA scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4, while SANCHEZ went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That's the most hits GURROLA has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of JUSTINE MEJIA, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.

Arleta's win bumped their record up to 9-5. As for Vasquez, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 10-8 record.

Looking ahead, Arleta is taking a road trip to challenge San Fernando at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Vasquez, they will be taking part in a tournament against Chavez at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Mustangs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 6.5 runs per game this season.
