Basketball Game Preview: Coldspring-Oakhurst Trojans vs. Anderson-Shiro Fighting Owls

Coldspring-Oakhurst is 1-9 against Anderson-Shiro since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Coldspring-Oakhurst Trojans will be playing in front of their home fans against the Anderson-Shiro Fighting Owls at 5:45 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Coldspring-Oakhurst will bounce into Friday's game after beating Onalaska, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. Coldspring-Oakhurst blew past Onalaska 43-18 on Tuesday. That's two games straight that the Trojans have won by exactly 25 points.

Meanwhile, Anderson-Shiro didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against New Waverly on Tuesday, but they still walked away with a 50-46 win. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Fighting Owls' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 970th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 445th).

The win made it two in a row for Anderson-Shiro and bumps their season record up to 7-11. As for Coldspring-Oakhurst, their victory bumped their record up to 5-8.

Coldspring-Oakhurst took a serious blow against Anderson-Shiro in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 70-32. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Coldspring-Oakhurst was down 43-5.
