Basketball Recap: Pinecrest Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Kennedy Moore and Aniya Mcgregor

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Pinecrest can now relate to. They took a 60-42 bruising from the South Garner Titans on Tuesday. The Patriots have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Pinecrest's loss came despite strong showings from Aniya McGregor and Kennedy Moore. McGregor posted 15 points and six boards, while Moore earned 17 points. McGregor is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last three games she's played.

South Garner found their leader in sophomore Kimaya Barnes, who had 16 points and eight steals. South Garner is 20-2 when Barnes posts three or more steals, but 1-5 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Taylor Moore, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and 16 rebounds.

Pinecrest's loss dropped their record down to 14-13. As for South Garner, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 21-7.

Pinecrest does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for South Garner, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 63-60 defeat against Chapel Hill on the 28th.
