Basketball Recap: Jersey Takes a Loss

Jersey lost against Highland back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Jersey Panthers had to suffer through a 62-34 loss at the hands of the Highland Bulldogs. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 336th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 113th).

Despite the loss, Jersey had strong showings from John Paul Vogel, who shot 42% from the field on his way to 12 points in addition to six rebounds and four steals, and Jaxon Brunaugh, who posted eight points and five boards.

Jersey has also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-21 record this season. Highland pushed their record up to 19-13 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home.

Jersey does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Highland, they have already played their next game, a 52-41 defeat against East St. Louis on the 28th.
