Basketball Recap: Sagemont Finds Playoff Glory Versus Schoolhouse Prep

Sagemont extended their postseason success on Wednesday against Schoolhouse Prep. They blew past the Schoolhouse Prep Wolfpack, posting a 79-36 win. Given the Prep's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 13th, while the Wolfpack are ranked 390th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Matthew Able continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 9-for-12 to rack up 25 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in shooting accuracy (75%). Another player making a difference was Patrick Liburd, who went 5-for-10 on his way to 15 points.

Despite the loss, Schoolhouse Prep still got an impressive performance from Hector Samaniego, who dropped a double-double with 21 points and 13 boards. That was a full 58.3% of Schoolhouse Prep's points, marking the fourth time in a row Samaniego has posted more than a third of the team's points.

Sagemont is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 80.2 points over those games. As for Schoolhouse Prep, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-10.

Sagemont wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, an 86-42 victory against Dade Christian on the 17th. Schoolhouse Prep does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
