Soccer Game Preview: Valley Christian vs. Presentation

The Valley Christian Warriors will head out on the road to face off against the Presentation Panthers at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

If Presentation heads into halftime all tied up, they better play a good second half: that's when Valley Christian took over last week. Valley Christian sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 1-0 victory over Saint Francis on Wednesday. The win was all the more spectacular given the Warriors' disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 157th, while the Lancers are ranked fourth).

Valley Christian's one-goal win came courtesy of Maya Patience, who's now up to four this season.

Meanwhile, Presentation was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of St. Ignatius College Preparatory.

Presentation's defeat dropped their record down to 7-10. As for Valley Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 10-5.

Valley Christian came out on top in a nail-biter against Presentation when the teams last played back in January, sneaking past 1-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Valley Christian since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
