Softball Game Preview: El Cajon Valley Braves vs. Mount Miguel Matadors

El Cajon Valley hasn't had much luck against Mount Miguel recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Braves are taking a road trip to face off against the Matadors at 4:00 p.m. El Cajon Valley has given up an average of 20.5 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

El Cajon Valley is headed into Wednesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Monday. They lost 24-11 to Hoover. Even if the Braves couldn't come away with the win, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.

El Cajon Valley got a massive performance out of Nai'omi Agustino, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs. With that strong performance, Agustino is now averaging an impressive 1.2 stolen bases per game. Paityn Wade was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Mount Miguel's offense. They came up short against Helix on Friday, falling 19-0. The Matadors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Mount Miguel's defeat dropped their record down to 3-8. As for El Cajon Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 1-10.

El Cajon Valley was able to grind out a solid victory over Mount Miguel in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, winning 12-7. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Braves since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
