Basketball Recap: Utica Academy of Science Snaps Seven-Game Streak of Losses at Home

Utica Academy of Science lost to Sauquoit Valley back in December of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Thursday. The Utica Academy of Science Atoms snuck past the Sauquoit Valley Indians with a 47-42 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Atoms.

Utica Academy of Science was led to victory by Zaria Spratt and Jada Morris. Spratt dropped a double-double on 15 points and 14 boards, while Morris posted 13 points in addition to seven assists and four steals. With that strong performance, Spratt is now averaging an impressive 2.1 blocks per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Terrea Jones, who scored five points.

Utica Academy of Science's win ended a seven-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-6. As for Sauquoit Valley, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 4-1.

Utica Academy of Science has already played their next game (against Syracuse Academy of Science), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Sauquoit Valley will challenge Oriskany at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
