Football Game Preview: Summit Academy Bears vs. Emery Spartans

After each having a week off, the Summit Academy Bears and the Emery Spartans will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 4:00 p.m. on the 31st. Summit Academy has given up an average of 26.9 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

On Friday, Summit Academy was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 43-38 to Layton Christian Academy. The loss continues a trend for the Bears in their meetings with the Eagles: they've now lost three in a row.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Emery, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. They pulled ahead with a 7-6 photo finish over Delta on Friday. The Spartans haven't had any issues with the Rabbits recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Emery's win bumped their record up to 3-6. As for Summit Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-5.

Summit Academy couldn't quite get it done against Emery when the teams last played back in November of 2024 as they fell 31-20. Thankfully for the Bears, Porter Hurdsman (who picked up 127 receiving yards and a pair of scores) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
